No 59 is a painting, which was made to embody the nineteenth century French philosophy ‘L’Art pour L’Art’ as an expression towards the value of art which excludes all moral and didactic considerations.

B-W forms part of a project inspired by the Japanese interpretation of beauty ‘Wabi-Sabi’. ‘Wabi-Sabi’ which is defined as humility and imperfection; is the appreciation and value given to the un-refined and imperfect. This painting aims to reflect a humble connection to nature which is reminiscent of the Japanese understanding of beauty.
